Did you get here by accident?

Hello.  My name is Angelica Rubio and I am the Tortilla Kid.

Whew! I’ve never said that out loud for all the world to hear.

But the truth is, I decided to write this blog, mostly for therapy.  Also, because the story needs to be told the right way.

For too long, others have attempted to tell you what happened, yet all you really hear is this weird story that happened a long time ago, about a woman in a small town in southeastern New Mexico, who made a flour tortilla and the face of Jesus appeared

OK, I mean, yes…that’s what happened.  And it is weird.  But seriously! You need to know what really happened!  Because despite how embarrassing this whole thing was for me growing up as a kid (believe me it was [and still is]), it was also a big part of my life, for better or for worse.

So where to begin?…

Oh yes…October, 1977. Almost two full years before I was born.
